2-Allylphenol is a high purity monomer which can be used as an intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry, for example, in the production of alprenolol, a beta-blocker where allyl can vulcanize the polymer, and in the production of allyl-substituted phenolic and polyester resins.

Other uses include the production of silanes, which can be polymerized into polyalkenes via allyl groups, such as oxyphosphonitrile copolymers which can be used in fire retardant foams.
